Fans who gulped down Hulu's Normal People, the TV series based on Sally Rooney's novel by the same name, were sad to reach the end all to soon—and with no second season currently in the works, the withdrawal felt even more intense.

Thankfully, there is a project on the horizon that will scratch that Normal People itch. A 12-episode adaptation of Rooney's first novel, Conversations with Friends, is in the works for Hulu.

Here's what we know about the forthcoming Conversations with Friends TV series.

The show already started filming.

According to the Conversations with Friends Instagram account, @convosonhulu, the new show is now in production. The cast is on set, filming in Northern Ireland. "We’re so excited to bring this world to life," the caption read.

The main cast has been announced.

Newcomer Alison Oliver—a graduate of Lir Academy, Paul Mescal's alma mater—will play Frances; she'll be joined by Joe Alwyn as Nick, Sasha Lane as Bobbi, and Jemima Kirke as Melissa. Said executive producer and direct Lenny Abrahamson, "I feel so excited to be collaborating with four such superb actors to bring Sally’s brilliant novel to the screen."

The minds behind Normal People are working on the new show.

The Hulu miniseries's executive producer Ed Guiney, executive producer and director Lenny Abrahamson, writer Alice Birch, and Rooney herself are all involved in Conversations with Friends.

But even if the same team is involved, don't expect it to be a second season of Normal People. "Obviously [it] is a cousin of Normal People in a way, but it's also quite different," Guiney told the Hollywood Reporter.

"I'm confident we're going to find fresh and interesting ways of dramatizing the novel's dynamics, and I'm excited to watch the process take shape‎," Rooney said in a statement when the adaptation was first announced.

The show is set for a 2022 premiere.

A 2022 debut is reportedly in mind. Said Abrahamson in February, "Over the last few months it has been a privilege to work alongside Element Pictures and our extraordinary team of writers to get the scripts to a point where we all feel so excited to start shooting."

In the U.S., Conversations with Friends will air on Hulu, the streaming service that previously nabbed the rights to Normal People.
