The Screen Actors Guild will present Lily Tomlin of "Grace and Frankie," "I Heart Huckabees," and 1975 film "Nashville" with the Life Achievement Award during its January 2017 ceremony.

A comedian, actress, writer, and producer, Lily Tomlin is currently being introduced to a whole new generation through ongoing comedy drama "Grace and Frankie," which has a third season on the way.

She has also received widespread recognition for her work including "Nashville" (1975), "The Late Show," comedy album "This is a Recording," TV film "The Celluloid Closet," and Broadway play "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe," as well as children's TV program "The Magic School Bus" and animal trade documentary "An Apology to Elephants."

"Lily Tomlin is an extraordinary actress, as equally adept at narrative drama as in comedy roles," said SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris.

"But it is through her many original characters that Lily's creative genius fully shines. She has an ability to create diverse and distinct characters that are at once familiar, eccentric and oh so honest -- in a way that illuminates life's hidden corners."

The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards take place January 29 in Los Angeles.
