LANGKAWI: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM) Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Aerospace Innovation Centre (AMIC) to form collaborative work in the development of research, education and training-based aerospace manufacturing industry in Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Mara, here today.
The MoU exchange was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak after the launch of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima 2017) at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre here.
The National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office, under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, will act as an advisor for the network that foresees sharing of expertise in the field of training, information distribution, and sharing of technology.
"This will also include efforts to take innovation to a higher scale; strengthening the capacity and capability of both parties into developing aerospace technology especially in the development of human capital," a statement said.
The collaboration between Mara, CTRM and AMIC also includes sharing of expertise in the area of research development, education and aerospace manufacturing industry, while the industry will work through an industrial-based technical education approach based on the concept of the Teaching Factory.
An Asean Composite Training Centre has also been formed in the college, with the aim of providing technical education, technological research, production and serve as a consultant to the local and foreign aerospace composite industry.
Knowledge and technology smart partnerships among the industrial and education sectors have produced a 32,000-strong high skilled workforce in the aerospace field, in accordance with the Aerospace Blueprint 2030 - to develop aerospace technology, maintain a long-term interest and increase the value of investments in the industry.
