Actress Lin Chi-ling announced the birth of her first child on 31 January, the eve of the Lunar New Year.

The 47-year-old model and actress from Taiwan posted a photo on social media of her baby's hand holding her and her husband Akira's fingers.

Lin wrote in the post, “😭Thank you for coming into our family.👨‍👩‍👦 Finally, finally a little angel was born into our family❤️ I really wish to share my sincere gratefulness and happiness with everyone I love at the beginning of this wonderful year.”

“I also thank everyone for giving me their blessings and encouragement for so long,” she added. “Happy new year, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy; always maintain positive hope, love will be right by everyone.🥰”

Akira also shared the news on his Instagram, posting the same picture.

Lin's post featured an emoji of two parents with a boy. According to celebrity news site UDN, when asked if the baby is a boy, Lin responded through her agent, “Yes, that is correct.”

Lin married Akira in 2019. The Japanese actor-singer is known as a member of J-pop boy band Exile.
