Lineker TKOs Top-Ranked Belingon, Eustaquio Victorious At ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX III
ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX III picked up where its predecessor left off.
The third edition of the martial arts event series featured a cracking headliner and the return of one of the flyweight division’s most seasoned athletes.
In the main event, #5-ranked contender John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker earned a second-round TKO over #1-ranked contender and former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon.
Both athletes promised to deliver fireworks, and they lived up to those words.
It didn’t take long for Lineker and Belingon to throw looping haymakers at each other, but it was “Hands Of Stone” who landed cleanly first.
In the second round, Belingon ducked under a jab from Lineker, but the Brazilian launched a right uppercut that sent the Filipino to his knees.
From there, Lineker jumped on his downed opponent and finished him off with four more punches before the referee jumped in to stop the action.
In the prelude to the main event, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio took on “Running Man” Song Min Jong in what turned out to be a decisive win for the Filipino.
Except for two instances – an attempted arm-triangle choke and a north-south choke by Song – “Gravity” was rarely troubled by his South Korean foe.
Eustaquio ultimately used his superior striking skills over three rounds to outclass his rival on the feet en route to the unanimous decision win.
