The Lions Clubs International Multiple District 301 Philippines 63rd Convention Opens At The Historic Landmark Manila Hotel

MANILA, Philippines - The Lions Clubs International Multiple District 301 Philippines is holding its 63rd State Convention at the Universidad de Manila (UDM) in the City of Manila on May 24-26, 2012. The focus of the convention is protecting Mother Nature as well as creating awareness of its importance in the life of every Filipino.

One of the highlights of the event is the coronation of winners of the Miss Philippine Lions Beauty Pageant at the Historic Landmark Manila Hotel on May 24, 2012, followed by a parade of members in international costumes on May 25, 2012. Other activities are a dance contest among districts at the Rizal Park, a leadership seminar at UDM, and the Governor's Ball.

Multiple District 301 Philippines is the umbrella organization of 358 clubs in eight districts in the country, which have a total of over 12,000 members. The eight sub-districts are: 301-A1 (City of Manila); 301-A2 (Southern Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, Masbate, Romblon, Marinduque, Mindoro, and Palawan); 301-B1 (Western Visayas); 301-B2 (Eastern Visayas); 301-C (Nothern Luzon); 301-D1 (Part of Northern Metro Manila and Part of Central Luzon); 301-D2 (Part of Northern Metro Manila and Part of Central Luzon); and 301-E (Mindanao).

The Lions Club in the Philippines, which started in 1949, was the first in Asia. Its membership continues to grow, undertaking humanitarian programs providing socio-economic and community services to help uplift the lives of many Filipinos. They keep alive the spirit of Lionism: Volunteerism, cooperation and unity. The Lions Club in the Philippines is affiliated with Lions Clubs International. There are today more than 45,000 Lions Clubs in more than 120 countries.
