Lito Adiwang Wouldn’t Mind Challenging Demetrious Johnson Or Rodtang In Another Special Rules Fight

Just like most fight fans, Team Lakay strawweight sensation Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang is excited for the unique special mixed rules showdown between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

Johnson and Jitmuangnon throw down at ONE X, ONE Championship’s 10th anniversary show on 5 December 2021, and Adiwang says it’s a must-watch event.

“I was surprised when I found out about it because we all know what a big deal it is to hear that two of the all-time greats in Rodtang and Demetrious are fighting,” Adiwang shared his thoughts on the historic matchup.

“First time in history that such a setup will be held. It’s really exciting and I really want to see what will happen between them.”

As for the groundbreaking bout itself, ONE Championship has something truly special on its hands. Two of the best fighters in their respective disciplines square off in a unique engagement put together to celebrate Asian martial arts at its finest.

Arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time, Johnson will lock horns with striking phenom Rodtang, literally one of the most dangerous strikers on the planet. Both Johnson and Rodtang are set to don the 4-ounce gloves while splitting four rounds down the middle.

Rounds one and three will be contested under ONE Super Series Muay Thai rules, while rounds two and four will be contested under ONE’s Global Martial Arts Rule Set.

It’s a rare arrangement that’s left the likes of Adiwang intrigued, and in awe at what ONE Championship has been able to accomplish.

“Imagine: you have one who is a pure striker who’s the best in his field, so that’s a clear advantage for Rodtang. On the other hand, you have Demetious who we all know what he’s capable of because he’s one of the greatest of all time, and there’s no question that he can finish Rodtang if the fight is under MMA rules. So it’s really interesting to see how that fight will play out,” Adiwang said.

“For me, this is really a big thing that unique fights like this are happening. We can now pit the best of the best, which before didn’t seem likely because of their contrasting disciplines. This is the best solution that ONE has made and it is certainly an interesting possibility for fighters who have different strengths.”

Adiwang no doubt counts himself among spectators who just want to see how the bout plays out, but he also wouldn’t mind stepping into the cage against either man down the road. “The Thunder Kid” has previously stated his interest in facing both Johnson and Rodtang, and he wouldn’t mind a special rules match as well.

“It’s not a secret that I like striking, so if there will be rounds that will only be pure striking, like what’s done in Muay Thai fights, I’d really like to be part of that. I like the concept and I believe that it’s a perfect fit for me,” Adiwang said.

“It has always been my dream, to face the best in my division, may it be in MMA against DJ or in Muay Thai versus Rodtang. So if ever someone will pull out, ONE just got to know that the Thunder Kid is always here and I’ll always prepare for it.”

ONE Championship returns on Friday, October 15 with ONE: First Strike, featuring a battle for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship between Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan and Superbon. Also, the quarterfinal round of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix commences with eight of the best kickboxers in the world.
