In Dream Big, Live Small, we visit tiny home-dwellers, discovering why they choose to live this way, how they manage it and the possibilities to do things like travel, learn and grow that have resulted from downsizing so significantly. In the long run, living small is really about living big.

The tiny home movement not only includes selling a majority of your material items in order to downsize into a smaller space but sometimes it allows you the freedom to travel anywhere you want.

Alexis Stephens and Christian Parsons decided to downsize into a tiny home and travel the country, documenting their journey and others’ tiny experiences in a video project and blog called “The Tiny House Expedition.”

In this episode of Dream Big, Live Small, you’ll see inside their 130-square foot home, which also happens to be their reason to travel and explore.

“When you live tiny, it’s your ticket to everyday adventure because it pushes you outside — to connect with your neighbors, to spend more time in the outdoors,” Alexis said. “We just decided to take that up a notch by traveling around the country.”

At just only 6.5-feet wide on the inside, Alex and Stephen’s tiny home is the definition of tiny, but they love it anyway.

“We decided to downsize and move into a tiny house after some big life changes,” Alexis said. “And this seemed like a way that I could own my own home, make the space just right for me and it was also a ticket to adventure.”

Inside and outside the small home, you’ll see that Alexis and Stephen have outfitted it with everything they need. With a porch, a fold-up dining room table, a composting toilet, beautiful wooden kitchen countertops and more, the couple has included everything that truly makes it feel like home in such a small space.
