LoL Free Agency: C9, Liquid, 100T reveal complete rosters for 2022 season

The League of Legends (LoL) Free Agency is in full swing, with multiple teams across the globe either renewing contracts or shuffling players in and out in preparation for the 2022 season.

In North America, powerhouse organisations Cloud9 (C9), Team Liquid, and 100 Thieves (100T) are among those that have already finalised their rosters for the next season.

Cloud9

Despite a relatively successful showing in the past season, C9 have decided to shake things up in their roster for Season 2022. Following the announcement of Luka "Perkz" Perković’s departure from the organisation, C9’s former starting support, Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme, has also left the team on 17 November and transferred to Evil Geniuses.

Vulcan has been with the organization for two years. He helped his team bag several titles in the North American region and qualify for the 2021 League of Legends World Championship.

At Worlds 2021, The team dominated the play-ins before making a miracle run through the group stage. However, C9 was then eliminated in defeated by Gen.G in the quarterfinals.

C9’s 2021 top laner, Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami, will be staying with the organization but will be moving to a new role and replacing Perkz as the team's mid laner. Meanwhile, Robert "Blaber" Huang will remain as the team's starting jungler.

Former Liiv SANDBOX player Park "Summit" Woo-tae from South Korea has also signed with C9 to replace Fudge in the top lane. Even though Liiv SANDBOX hasn’t won a regional title this year, Summit’s performance has been stellar in Season 2021.

In the bot lane, Cloud9 have opted to recruit some young players. The team’s starting AD Carry will be Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol from T1 Challengers, replacing Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen. Berserker helped T1 Challengers win four League of Legends Champions Korea Challenger titles in his two years there. There have been no announcements yet on Zven’s status for the upcoming season.

Former C9 Academy players Kim "Winsome" Dong-keon and Jonah "Isles" Rosario are joining Berserker in the bot lane as support. These two players will be competing for the starting support role for the organization.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid have also announced significant changes in their roster over the past week, with three high-profile players joining the team.

Liquid's roster moves started on 18 November, when Edward "Tactical" Ra and Barney "Alphari" Morris were announced to be parting ways with the team.

Meanwhile, jungler Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen and support player Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in have renewed their contracts. Santorin will be on Liquid's books for two more years while CoreJJ signed for one more year.

On 22 November, former Fnatic jungler Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau joined Liquid as their new top laner. Bwipo spent two years with the European powerhouse, interchanging as the team’s top lane and jungler. Bwipo will be replacing Tactical in the top lane.

This was followed by an announcement on 23 November with Liquid welcoming Steven "Hans sama" Liv as the new AD carry in the bot lane to replace Alphari. Hans sama’s contract was bought out from Rogue, making him the team’s second import from the European region this season.

Finally, former Team SoloMid (TSM) mid laner and head coach Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg is joining Liquid in the mid lane. Bjergsen has been in the LoL professional scene for nine years, where he spent seven of those years in TSM as the mid laner and co-owner before moving into a coaching role.

Liquid’s mid laner, Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen, is still signed with Liquid until 2023, but there have been no announcements on his status or role as of yet.

100 Thieves

100T, on the other hand, have decided to keep most of their starting roster from 2021. Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij will also join the team as a top laner for Season 2022, being promoted from 100 Thieves Academy.

“Coming into the offseason, we looked at what we had, and we felt we had a team that could continue pushing the boundaries of the LCS,” 100 Thieves General Manager Christopher "PapaSmithy," Smith said in an interview published by Dexerto.
