A London home that “rivals Buckingham Palace” is on sale for $131 million

There’s a stately home in London that “rivals Buckingham Palace” in its scale and luxury, and now it could be yours for £100 million ($131 million), says ultra-prime developer K10 Group.

Doughty House is considered one of London’s most important heritage restoration and legacy projects, with acquisition, construction, restoration and fit out costs amounting to £62.5 million ($82.2m) alone. Dubbed a “private palace,” the three-storey, 38,000 square foot Grade II manor house has an art gallery, 48 chandeliers , 70 tonnes of concrete to shell and core the underground car museum with a car lift, a cinema room, as well as a dining room for 200 people.

It even has an underground car museum.

The home is located in one of the capital’s most affluent areas Richmond Hill, which provides spectacular views of the River Thames.

While Buckingham Palace has 52 bedrooms and Doughty House has 10 in total, it’s the scale of luxury that tips it to become a “private palace.” There is Roman era flooring and columns from the ruins of Pompeii, as well as 20 different types of rare marble and stone used in the entertaining rooms and bathrooms.

Ruins of Pompeii are used to kit out the mansion.

It also has a 40 meter long main lawn and will have a 15 meter long reflection pool, inspired by Chatsworth House, as well as extensive staff quarters and a pool and spa complex.

Fit for a king.
