Lonely elephant to join herd in Cambodia
Lonely elephant Kaavan is set for a new life
Location: Islamabad, Pakistan
Date: November 23, 2020
Kaavan is set to be sent to an elephant sanctuary in Cambodia
after years of campaigning by animal rights advocates
to rescue the elephant from grim conditions with no companion
(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) ADVISOR TO PAKISTANI PRIME MINISTER ON CLIMATE CHANGE, MALIK AMIN ASLAM, SAYING: "On the 29th (of November) Kaavan is going to leave us, but I am happy that he is going to a place where he will spent his remaining life happily. He is now 36 or 37 years old, and the normal life span of an Asian elephant is around 44 years. So he will spend the rest of his life happily among a herd of his kin."
