Looters Devastate Stores in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Shopping District

Thousands of looters targeted Chicago’s Magnificent Mile shopping district in the early morning hours of August 10, ending in more than 100 arrests, local media reported.

This video shows looters running off with stolen merchandise as Chicago police officers attempt to stop the thefts.

Anti-police-brutality protests escalated overnight August 9 to 10, following the police shooting of an Englewood man, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown told local media during a press conference.

More than 100 people were arrested and 13 police officers were injured, reports said.

Micah Berkley captured the video and told Storyful he was driving through his neighborhood because he did not want to keep his car at home due to the looting and property damage going on the surrounding area.

“I captured this during the looting/riots a block from my house. We had looting during the George Floyd protests … but this time it was different. There were no protests … just looting,” said Berkley.
