KALIBO, Aklan (PNA) - The miraculous image of Nuestra Senior Sto. Niño de Romblon that was stolen in 1991 at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Romblon was recovered in Aklan.

Archbishop Jose Corazon Talaoc of Kalibo, Aklan, who once served as bishop of Romblon, expressed elation over the recent recovery of the miraculous image of Senior Sto. Niño de Romblon.

Happy that the image was finally recovered after many years, he said Romblon seemed to have lost its vigor when the province lost its Sto. Niño image. "The province will be elated by this recovery," the prelate said.

Talaoc also informed that the Sto. Niño image is scheduled to be brought back to Romblon on Feb. 9.

The recovery of the holy image was realized through the help of an antique collector who bought the image without its gold crown from an antique dealer in Aklan.

The antique collector, whose name was not readily made available, informed his priest friend, Fr. Joebert Villasis, about the new addition to his collection of antiques.

Fr. Villasis sought the help of Professor Jun Mijares of Aklan Catholic College who confirmed that it was the Sto. Nino image that had been stolen from the St. Joseph Cathedral in Romblon.
