Love Is Blind star Carlton Morton criticises Kelly Chase and Kenny Barnes over George Floyd comments

From Digital Spy

Love Is Blind star Carlton Morton has hit out at two of his castmates for their comments following the death of George Floyd.

Floyd died in police custody while a white officer kneeled on his neck, pinning him down. The officer has since been charged with his murder, and the death has led to a series of protests in the US and across the world.

Love Is Blind's Kelly Chase and Kenny Barnes recently addressed the demonstrations and the Black Lives Matter movement on social media, but some of their comments were strongly condemned by Carlton, who took to Instagram yesterday (May 31).

His first upload was a re-post of Kelly's Instagram Story, where she said: "Black lives f**king matter, absolutely. But this weekend, the last 48 hours the riots went f**king crazy, shitstorm.

"What happened to George Floyd and every other coloured person if I wanna use that. I hate describing people by their colour..."

In response, Carlton wrote: "Girl every WHAT?! 'COLORED???' Say that again... I don't think I heard you right.

"AS A BLACK MAN, and the only Black man who was around some of these people, I am DISGUSTED to log on to messages from concerned fans today who are disappointed in some of my castmates lack of posting.

"And then we have people like THIS who still can't get it right! And please don't play victim. Y'all will NOT keep doing shit behind closed doors and the fans keep following y'all antics thinking you're good people."

Kelly has since apologised for her comments in a tearful Instagram upload, saying: "I created pain and used words that were offensive and I meant no ill-intent. I want to take accountability and acknowledge what was done today.

"I used the terms 'coloured people' as well as 'All Lives Matter' and I realise how ignorant that was, how uneducated I am, and I'm really, truly sorry for all of the pain that I caused people today because I know that there's so many people that are hurting because of what happened with George Floyd and every other black person who is scared."

Carlton also took aim at some of Kenny's social media activity, providing screenshots of previous comments like: "If reciting lyrics makes one racist then I must not be going to heaven."

Carlton wrote: "Just a quick question since SOME of my castmates y'all seem to think are so goody goody... CAN WHITE PEOPLE EVER USE THE N-WORD? Why do I have over 10 screenshots of certain castmates justifying the use of the N-Word. Oh and we are also apparently 'hypocrites' who want change but have to stop using the word."

Underneath Kenny's Instagram post expressing his horror at Floyd's death and calling people to come together "to implement the change we intend to see in the world", one follower agreed and suggested Kenny should "educate [himself] on [his] personal biases".

"Evidently I must abide by the opinions of everybody else and never my own," he replied. "Please tell me what else I can do to satisfy the impossible expectations of the world for the life I live is more privileged that that of any other within modern humanity dating back 50,000 years ago."

Sharing the screengrab, Carlton wrote: "lmaoooo YO so this guy is really saying in so many words white people don't have to change their RACIST ASS BELIEFS to accommodate Black people. Defending the N-word yet posting George Floyd for the fans to think you're a REAL CHRISTIAN huh?"
