Love Island narrator Iain Stirling has dedicated the ITV2 reality show's recent BAFTA nomination to the late presenter Caroline Flack.

On Thursday (June 4), it was announced that Love Island had been nominated in the Entertainment Craft Team category at the 2020 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards.

Shortly after the news of the nomination, Iain Stirling congratulated everyone involved in making the show in a new post on his Instagram page, which he ended by dedicating the nomination to his friend and colleague Caroline Flack, who died earlier this year.

"Delighted for everyone involved in the show that we're up for another BAFTA," Iain wrote.

"On a personal note, to be named here and considered one of the team when all I do is talk into a microphone for a few hours has touched me more than anyone will ever know.

"Well done Love Island! Caroline – this ones for you," he added.

Caroline died by suicide in February and Love Island and its stars led the tributes to the presenter in the days following her death.

Iain Stirling paid a poignant tribute to Caroline on the show too, saying: "Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island, and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers.

"Like many of you, right now we're just trying to come to terms with what has happened. My only hope is that we can all try and be kinder, always show love, and listen to one another.

"Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had, making our favourite show. You were a true friend to me. I'm going to miss you, Caz."

Love Island airs on ITV2, and you can catch up on the series on ITV Hub.

The Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, July 31 on BBC One, with the British Academy Television Craft Awards taking place online on Friday, July 17.
