Former Love Island contestant Jack Fincham said he has "got a different head on [his] shoulders" since becoming a new father.

The reality show winner, who came first in the competition in 2018 alongside former girlfriend Dani Dyer, shocked fans when he announced the birth of his daughter Blossom on Friday (January 24).

Speaking to press at the National Television Awards on Tuesday, the reality TV star opened up on how he is adjusting to his new life, just days after Blossom’s birth.

He said: “It’s such an amazing feeling. When people say this to you: ‘Oh, when you have a child you will feel different…’ I get it now.

“I was holding her watching the TV, and I was just staring at her face. It just doesn’t get boring. It’s just amazing. You just keep looking at this little person thinking: ‘I created that. It’s amazing.’

He added: “I have got a different head on my shoulders. I’m not just thinking about myself anymore. When I do things I am thinking about Blossom as well. I don’t know how to explain it but it is that – you are not thinking about me, me, me. It is a funny old feeling but it is amazing.”

Fincham said he has not been watching all of the new series of Love Island but added he was aware of the fact current contestant Shaughna Phillips fancied him.

He said: “I haven’t been watching it much because I have been training hard, so I haven’t been getting in until about 10pm.

“But from what I have watched… I know that Shaughna said she fancied me, so I watched her.”

Asked whether the feeling was reciprocated, he replied: “Yeah, I don’t know.”

Over the weekend Fincham used his Instagram to confirm that he is not in a relationship with Blossom's mother, adding: “Although we are not together we are great friends as we have been for many years and our priority is co-parenting our beautiful baby girl. Both mum and baby are doing great.

“I am now a proud dad to a healthy baby girl Blossom Fincham born 8lb 2oz on 24th January 2020.”

Television stars are out in force tonight, as the NTAs takes place at London's O2 Arena.

After hitting the red carpet, celebs will head into the ceremony to find out who has been victorious this year, and contenders include Ant and Dec (who are going for a record-breaking win) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag has received a nod in the comedy category, while drama series Killing Eve is also nominated.

Jodie Comer is also up for Best Drama Performance for her depiction of assassin Villanelle in the BBC thriller.

David Walliams is stepping up to host the awards for the first time after Dermot O’Leary, who held the position for nine years, announced last year he was stepping down from hosting duties.
