SINGAPORE – The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a $739.5 million civil contract for the design and construction of the Tengah Depot and its associated facilities for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) to the China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corp (Singapore Branch).

Located to the west of Tengah New Town, the 44.5 ha facility comprises an integrated rail and bus depot, ancillary buildings and a dormitory for transport workers, said the LTA in a news release on Wednesday (20 November). It will be Singapore’s 10th MRT depot.

Tengah Depot will be able to accommodate 100 four-car trains and 600 buses along with their associated maintenance facilities. The four-storey dormitory will be able to house 450 bus captains.

Construction of the depot is expected to begin next year and is slated for completion in 2026. The LTA noted that China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corp (Singapore Branch) has completed several major infrastructure projects here, including three MRT stations – Tuas Link, Tuas West Road and Tuas Crescent.
