SINGAPORE — The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be implementing enhanced safety measures along a segment of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) at Jalan Anak Bukit after a video was posted online showing four cars skidding along that stretch of highway.
“We have studied this segment of the PIE at Jalan Anak Bukit. The majority of accidents at this location are due to speeding,” said LTA in a Facebook post on Sunday (23 August).
“We also carried out skid resistance readings for this segment and they are within the normal range,” it added.
Along with broadening lane markings, re-painting the parapet wall with directional arrows and installing new signs along the stretch, LTA said it would also bring forward its plans to re-surface the coating for this particular area, including the road shoulder. The works should begin next week.
It its post, LTA also shared a YouTube video uploaded by SG Road Vigilante showing, on four different occasions, cars skidding while travelling along that highway segment.
On-screen text in the video states that the incidents were captured between 13 August and 18 August. The video description also implies that wet road conditions due to rain may have played a part in causing the cars to skid.
