After unveiling a concept version of the model in 2016, Lucid Motors announced this week that a production version of the Lucid Air electric sedan will be revealed this April in New York.
Back in 2016, the California-based EV company Lucid Motors introduced the world to the Lucid Air concept sedan at the LA Auto Show. On Monday, three years after the first iteration of the model made its world debut, the company announced that the production version of the electric sedan -- the first of which rolled off the factory line in December -- will finally debut in April.
Lucid Motors previously stated that the EV will have a driving range of over 400 miles and a 0 - 60mph acceleration time of under 2.5 seconds, a pair of numbers that would make the model a direct Tesla Model S competitor. Unlike its Tesla counterpart which starts at $79,990, however, this electric sedan is expected to start at over $100,000. Reservations are currently open at $1,000 for early production models.
In April when the Lucid Air will be revealed in New York, the company will announce specs, configurations and pricing. In the meantime, Lucid promises to publish frequent updates about the model. Full production is expected to be underway by the end of 2020.
