A religious congregation in Delhi could be the coronavirus hotspot India was trying to escape

A recent religious congregation, organised in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, has become a major worry for Indian officials trying to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. Six persons from Telangana state, who attended the conference between March 13 and 15, died of the disease yesterday (March 30), according to a statement from the chief minister’s office. Over 2,000 people, including delegates from Indonesia and Malaysia, had attended the congregation organised by Tablighi Jamaat, a global Islamic missionary movement set up in 1926.
