Ma Yili criticises the lack of facilities in changing rooms

12 Feb - Mainland actress Ma Yili recently expressed her frustration over the inadequate baby nursing and changing rooms in China's airports and trains stations.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress recently published a long article on her microblog, complaining about the lack of equipment in these rooms for mothers to use by sharing an incident involving her own daughter.

She stated that she had taken her daughter to a changing room at an airport in order to change her diaper, but found out that there was no sink in the room for her to wash her hands.

They then decided to go to the ladies room, but found that there is no baby-changing station for them to use, and that she had to change the diapers while standing, resulting in the pants being soiled with excrement.

Ma stated that as she tried to wash her hands off the excrement, she found out that the toilet was out of hand sanitizer.

Ma stated that this happens a lot, that even though airports do have nursing rooms, most of them lack the basic necessities aside from a table and a chair.

"A nursing room need more than that. Some mothers have to use an electric breastpump, and they had to go to the ladies room to find an electric socket instead," she said.

Ma stated that while there are too many people criticising mothers, the reality is that nobody really understands a mother's needs.

She also expressed hopes that these public stations and airports will provide better rooms for the aforementioned purposes, which include a baby-changing station, sinks, chairs, electrical outlets, and garbage bins.

This isn't the first time the actress has expressed her frustration over public facilities for mothers. Ma previously wrote a long article on the lack of nursing rooms for mothers to breastfeed their baby in.
