Macron visits French Polynesia

Macron visited a coral research centre on the island of Moorea on Tuesday (July 27).

Macron also spoke to officials and representatives from the Fare Natura, an eco-museum, and also CRIOBE (The Centre for Insular Research and Observatory of the Environment) to see their work in the fight against global warming.

Before departing, Macron spent time greeting locals, who had gathered in large crowds to meet him.

Macron is expected to make a speech to address nuclear weapon tests conducted by France from 1966-1996 later in the day, which detractors claim disregarded the lives of locals and led to an increase in radiation-related illnesses.
