The Indonesian maid accused of murdering her employer at Telok Kurau was charged in hospital on Thursday (9 June).

Daryati is facing one charge of murder after she allegedly stabbed her 59-year-old employer, Seow Kim Choo, at the deceased’s residence at Lorong H Telok Kurau on Tuesday (7 June) night. She was injured in the process and later warded at Changi General Hospital (CGH).

The 23-year-old maid is also accused of attacking Seow’s husband, Ong Thiam Soon, causing the 57-year-old man to sustain multiple injuries. Ong is currently warded at CGH after undergoing surgery.

Media reports said that Ong was looking for his wife on Tuesday night after he was unable to find her in their house.

Ong then found the toilet door on the second floor locked. When he unlocked it, he was shocked to find the toilet floor covered with blood.

Before he was able to overcome the initial shock, Ong was allegedly attacked by Daryati, who was armed with two fruit knives. His screams alerted his daughter-in-law who called the police before helping Ong to subdue Daryati.

In the process, Daryati allegedly slashed Ong on his legs and neck. Seow was found bloodied and lying on the toilet floor and was pronounced dead by paramedics at 9.03 pm.

Daryati’s case will be mentioned again on 29 June. If convicted of murder, she faces the death penalty.
