MAKERS India inaugural conference to be held in Bengaluru in March
Bangalore: Sudha Murthy, philanthropist, author and the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, is set to headline the inaugural conference of MAKERS India, which will be held in Bengaluru on March 13 and 14 under the theme ‘Women Who Make India’.
The conference will connect women from different fields — from business and entertainment to politics and sports — to achievers who can inspire and guide them to raise their game. Several prominent female personalities would grace the occasion. These include the actor and filmmaker Nandita Das, the Intel (India) head Nivruti Rai, the filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the Teach for India CEO Shaheen Mistri, and the author and screenwriter Anuja Chauhan.
The theme of the conference is inspired by the growing number of women surging ahead in areas previously closed to them and winning on their own terms. The conference will explore the rise, contribution and impact of this increasingly powerful section of Indian women who are ‘making’ India, one breakthrough at a time.
Speaking on the subject, actor Nandita Das felt that diversity and inclusion are precious humane ideas that are under serious threat. “All identities need to be respected without being boxed or judged. As a part of the MAKERS India community, we need to hasten the process of change towards a more equal world. And we as women can lead that change,” she said.
