JITRA: A 121-year-old woman, believed to be the oldest in the country, has passed away at her home in Kampung Bendahara, Kodiang here.

Puan Amad passed away peacefully due to old age at about 1.30pm today.

Her grandson Aziz Chin, 50, said two of her children and grandchildren were besides her when she died.

“She has not eaten for the past 20 days because she was not feeling well.

“We also could not move her because she said she was in pain,” he said when met.

Aziz said Puan was buried at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Batu 4, Kampung Bendahara, after Isya prayers tonight.

Puan’s youngest daughter Tom Khamis, 63, said her mother did not suffer from any illness prior to her death.

“However, she recently lost her appetite and she cannot speak clearly,” she said.

Puan, better known as Tok Puan was survived by four children aged between 63 and 90, 19 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
