Malaysia banks have sufficient liquidity to ease financial strains -c.bank

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Reuters) - Malaysia's banking system has sufficient liquidity to ease financial strains and support intermediation activities, the central bank said on Tuesday, as a coronavirus pandemic sharply slows economic growth.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said its recent 100 basis-point reduction to its statutory reserve requirement had released some 30 billion ringgit ($6.78 billion) into the banking system, on top of 160 billion ringgit in excess liquidity.
