PUTRAJAYA: The government today condemned the launch of the medium-range ballistic missile by the North Korea into the Sea of Japan.

In a statement earlier, Foreign Ministry said the launch is another blatant violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“Malaysia regrets this action which demonstrates North Korea’s complete disregard for the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the world in general,” it added.

The government also urged North Korea to end all ballistic missile launches and comply with all United Nations Security Council resolutions concerning North Korea.

This morning, North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan, in what analysts said was a warning ahead of a China-US summit at which Pyongyang’s accelerating atomic weapons programme is set to top the agenda.

South Korea’s defence ministry said the missile, which was launched days after Pyongyang warned of retaliation if the global community ramps up sanctions had flown 60km.
