Malaysia-based digital recruitment firm Potentio is all set for exponential growth with the hire of two high performing talent consultants from Michael Page, an employment agency. The firm has also announced collaboration with local startup HYPERLAB to launch its ‘chat with us’ service, a platform that connects talent consultants with potential hires.

Senior Consultant Shiori Murayama and Consultant See Yin Tan have had successful track records in hiring and building digital teams for a range of businesses – from established corporates to startups in Malaysia. Moving from an industry veteran to an agile technology led recruitment firm, both consultants are on a mission to innovate and improve the recruitment business.

Potentio, specialising in placing creative, digital marketing, and technology professionals, claims its unique proposition is “people plus technology” – having consultants who really understand the market, and specialised technology to assist.

For example, the company piloted a successful candidate recommendation platform called SCOUT late last year, and currently has other bespoke products that are underway.

When asked by e27 about the recruitment problems or challenges that Potentio aims to overcome, Potentio Co-founder & Managing Partner Chris Greenough (previously the Head of Strategy at APAC digital agency APD) replied “We approach recruitment by looking at our candidates as our chief customer, so everything we do is aimed at improving the candidate experience. Our People + Technology philosophy allows us to build relationships, quickly, at scale, that our clients can tap into.”

Tech recruitment is time consuming due to the complexity of the role, and can sometimes be a tedious process if not done properly. Potentio is currently working on two things to improve its tech recruitment services.

“Firstly, we are building partnerships with coding schools and startups that can train the future tech workforce. Secondly, we will also be offering consultation and career support that techies sometimes require. Outside of this, we have a few other exciting projects in the pipeline,” he explained.

Potentio has also recently collaborated with HYPERLAB, a service design company, to launch its ‘chat with us’ service, a chat application platform that connects consultants with talents.

The JustAsq platform promises to be a solution to any business seeking to improve customer and employee experiences by leveraging the growing popularity of conversational interfaces. According to Vic Sithasanan, CEO of HYPERLAB, they are currently deploying JustAsq in performance marketing, customer service, client management, CRM and workforce productivity scenarios.

HYPERLAB claims that companies adopting JustAsq benefit by having the infrastructure, interface, data and analytics hosted and served from the cloud. Implementing JustAsq can happen within days and process improvements seen immediately.

Its clients include Maxis, HSBC, CIMB, Sime Darby, Tropicana, Aspen Group, BBC Topgear and DPO International.

For the interim, JustAsq is a serviced offer, with HYPERLAB providing the consulting and implementation of the solution within an enterprise. HYPERLAB closed a seed round of US$500,000 in April 2016 and is one of the few pure technology startups in Malaysia.

“Being our sister company, HYPERLAB has a very similar philosophy – it’s all about the experience. Currently we are piloting their first product, which they will be launching soon, to power our new “chat with us” service,” said Greenough, commenting on the collaboration.

“With HYPERLAB, our Talent Consultants are easily accessible to active and passive candidates via their social profiles and through performance marketing. Instead of filling out a form or submitting a resume, candidates can chat directly about their career goals. We see this as a big opportunity to improve speed to hire,” he added.

Referrals are by far the best source for talent – Potentio is taking this insight to build a CRM programme for its talents. According to Greenough, the bigger picture is to build out a network of the best digital talent in the region that has instant access to the firm’s services and is rewarded for referring their peers.

“Our goal is to be the go-to professional network for digital economy careers. A market that neither Linkedin nor Stackoverflow, or others have been able to effectively cater to,” he concluded.
