Male Orangutan Frequenting Residential Area Relocated to Indonesian Park

A male orangutan weighing over 60 kg (132 pounds) was safely tranquilized and moved to Gunung Palung National Park in Kalimantan, Indonesia, after he became a frequent visitor to a residential garden in Ketapang Regency.

International Animal Rescue moved the primate, and shared video on November 8 of its team tracking and safely transporting him to the national park, where he was released to enjoy a life free from human-orangutan conflict. The ape was named Nayo by the rescue team, and was estimated to be around 20 years of age. Credit: International Animal Rescue via Storyful
