1 Oct – Production studio Kuan Pictures is all set to premiere its latest movie, "Malu", at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) that will be held this November.

The good news was shared on its official Facebook. The same post also thanked everyone involved in making the Edmund Yeo-helmed movie.

"We are very happy to announce that our film, MALU, written and directed by Edmund Yeo, will be having its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in November 2020.

"We would like to thank the many members of the MALU family from different countries around the world for joining us in this ambitious project.

"And we are thrilled to finally bring this film to audiences during such troubled times. Finally we would also like to thank some of our sponsors and collaborators in making this film MALU come true," the post stated.

The movie is the third directorial effort from Yeo, a co-production between Malaysia and Japan, which begun filming in September 2017 at several locations in Japan including Hokkaido, Yokohama and Sapporo.

In 2017, Yeo became the first Malaysian filmmaker to win the Best Director award at TIFF, receiving the accolade at the 30th edition of the film festival for his movie "Aqerat".

Aside from the Malaysian cast members, MayJune Tan and Sherlyn Seo, "Malu" also stars Kiko Mizuhara, Lynn Lim, Seck Fook Yee, Debbie Loo and Isabel Alessandra Jalleh.

"Malu" is among the 30 movies, including the likes of "Underdog", "Come and Go", "Jang-Gae: The Foreigner" and "ZOKKI", that will be screened at the upcoming film festival.
