Man being investigated for allegedly slapping petrol station attendant who advised him to wear a mask

SINGAPORE — A 55-year-old man is being investigated by the police for allegedly slapping a female petrol station attendant who advised him to wear a mask before entering a store.

Police said they responded to the incident at a petrol station along Jervois Road at about 5.50pm on Sunday (12 April).

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the female service attendant had advised the man to wear a mask before entering the store, but he had refused to do so,” said the police in a media release on Monday.

“The man subsequently became agitated and had allegedly slapped the female service attendant on the face.”

A person who is convicted of voluntarily causing hurt to others faces a jail term of up to three years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
