A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer following a road crash in Kent.
Barry Rossiter, 23, of Nickley Wood, Ashford, has also been charged with causing serious injury by driving a vehicle dangerously and assaulting an emergency worker.
The crash happened at about 15:15 GMT on 26 January in Coulter Road, Ashford,
The officer, who was on foot at the time, was struck by a car that allegedly failed to stop at the scene.
Mr Rossiter, 23, appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on Saturday and was remanded to a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday.
Four other people, two men aged 19 and 37 and two women aged 19 and 32, were also arrested in connection with the incident.
All are from the local area and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
A sixth person, a 19-year-old man from Ashford, was arrested on Friday and remains in police custody.
The constable had serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
He has since been discharged.
