Man charged for splashing hot water on son, who later died

A 24-year old man was charged in court on Monday (24 October) for splashing hot water repeatedly on his five-year-old son, who later died.

The alleged incident took place on Saturday in a rented apartment in Toa Payoh, according to The New Paper. The boy died in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital the next day.

The man was accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt. If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment, or up to 15 years’ jail with a fine or caning.

The boy, who cannot be named due to a gag order, had three siblings, who have been placed in temporary foster care.

The man, who is currently remanded, is due to appear in court on 31 October.
