Man charged with housebreaking in Yishun and possessing stolen heels and bra

A 24-year-old Singaporean man was charged on Wednesday (14 June) with one count of having suspected stolen items and one count of housebreaking.

Hu Yongda allegedly broke into a unit in The Estuary condominium, which is along Yishun Avenue 1, around 2.30am on Monday (12 June), according to court documents. He was said to have climbed through an unsecured window but fled after he heard movement in the unit.

Police managed to identify Hu and arrested him around 6pm on the same day at another unit of the condominium. The police found in his possession four pairs of black high-heeled shoes from brands such as Mitju and D&C, one pair of red and black heels, one pair of silver heels, a pair of pink heels from H&M, and a pair of beige heels. They also found a bra.

Hu will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health before appearing in court on 28 June. If convicted of housebreaking, Hu faces a jail term of up to three years and a fine. If convicted of possessing suspected stolen items, he faces a jail term of up to a year and/or a maximum fine of $3,000.

Hu was subsequently given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on 26 September 2017.
