SINGAPORE — A man was charged on Wednesday (29 December) after he allegedly allowed another man to use his vaccination status on his TraceTogether App for dine-in access to a Sentosa bar.

Kiran Singh Rughbir Singh, 37, is said to have conned a female bar employee into allowing Utheyakumar Nallathamby access into the bar for dining in, something which she would not have done had she not been deceived.

Kiran, a Malaysian, was handed one count of cheating by personation. Utheyakumar, who was also to be charged on Wednesday, did not appear in court as he was on medical certificate. His case was adjourned to Friday.

According to Kiran’s charge sheet, he and Utheyakumar were at Coastes, a bar located at 50 Siloso Beach Walk, at about 6pm on 9 September.

Kiran had then allegedly allowed Utheykumar to use his TraceTogether application - which showed Kiran’s fully-vaccinated status - to deceive the bar employee into giving Utheyakumar access for dine-in.

Kiran’s action is said to have “likely caused harm to a person body”, according to his charge sheet. His case has been fixed for a plead guilty mention on 9 February.

If convicted of cheating by personation, Kiran may be jailed for five years, fined, or both.

Dining-in at food-and-beverages outlets resumed for fully-vaccinated people from 10 August.
