Myanmar man charged with murder in Bedok Reservoir home

SINGAPORE — A 49-year-old male Myanmar national was charged on Monday (5 April) over the murder of another 49-year-old man at a home along Bedok Reservoir Road.

Naing Lin was arrested on Saturday. In an earlier news release, the police said they were alerted at about 10.15am to a stabbing case at the residential unit.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man lying motionless inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The police said that preliminary investigations showed that the two men were known to each other.

According to the charge sheet, Naing is accused of murdering Myo Kyaw Thu at a unit on the tenth storey of Blk 613 Bedok Reservoir Road, on 2 April at between 6.09pm and 6.21pm.

His case will be mentioned again on 12 April.

If Naing is convicted of murder, he will face the death penalty.
