Man charged with sexually assaulting 5-year-old girl in school
A 20-year-old Singaporean man has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.
The man, who was charged in the State Courts on Tuesday (13 February), allegedly attempted to penetrate the private parts of the victim with his finger on 7 November 2016.
The incident allegedly took place in a music school located in the west of Singapore. The man cannot be named to protect the identity of the child.
His bail has been set at $15,000 and his travel documents have been surrendered.
If convicted, the man faces a jail term of between eight years and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
The case will be mentioned on 8 May.
