Man City vs Lyon prediction: How will Champions League fixture play out tonight?

Manchester City and Lyon meet in the last eight of the Champions League in Portugal tonight.

Pep Guardiola‘s side overcame Real Madrid in the last round, while the French side beat Juventus on away goals in the last 16.

Domestically, City’s end-of-season run wasn’t terribly impressive, particularly with an FA Cup semi-final defeat, but they will be fully focused on winning in Europe.

Lyon’s best hope remains forward Memphis Depay, back from an ACL injury and again linking well with star midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Team news

Manchester City should have a fully fit squad to choose from, other than long-term absentee Sergio Aguero. Guardiola will need to choose between Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez in attack in particular.

Lyon are in similarly good shape and Rudi Garcia could name an unchanged lineup, though there is a case to recall Moussa Dembele up front in place of Karl Toko-Ekambi.

Predicted line-ups

Man City: Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling.

Lyon: Lopes; Denayer, Marcelo, Marcal; Dubois, Caqueret, Guimaraes, Aouar, Cornet; Memphis, Dembele.

Odds

Man City — 3/10

Draw — 11/2

Lyon — 11/1

Prediction

Lyon did well to overcome Juventus but City have a more rounded and dangerous team than the Italians and they should absolutely dominate from midfield.

Man City 2-0 Lyon
