Man found dead in Sungai Petani home

SUNGAI PETANI: A man was found dead inside his house at Taman Seri Kota near here today.

Mohd Khifni Mohd Akhir, 59, a general worker at Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Butterworth, was found slumped on the kitchen floor.

He was believed to have died about three days ago.

A resident, who wanted to be known as Manan, 45, said neighbours could smell foul stench coming from the house but no one dared to check it out until later today.

"Khifni was staying alone in the house since his divorce. No one had seen him outside the house for the past few days." he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Muda district police spokesman said Khifni's body was sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for post-mortem.

He said initial investigation showed there was no foul play involved.

"It was also learnt that Khifni did not show up for work since six days ago."
