Man injured after car explodes in Bukit Batok car park

A 32-year-old man was admitted to the Singapore General Hospital with burns on his limbs and chest after a car exploded at a car park in Bukit Batok on Wednesday evening (26 April).

The Singapore Police Force said they were alerted to the scene at 6.28pm after a report of “a loud explosion from a car at 290H Bukit Batok Street 24”.

In a video circulating online, passers-by are seen attending to the man who is crying in pain. Burn marks can be seen on his arms. Police said the man was conveyed to hospital in a conscious state.

The video also showed that the doors of the car were blown off by the explosion.

Portable butane gas canisters were found at the scene, said the police.

The police are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
