Man nabbed for punching DPM's car

KUALA LUMPUR: A man was arrested after he was alleged to have punched the windscreen of a car belonging to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The incident reportedly took place yesterday near the Intermark building along Jalan Tun Razak, here.

In the 3.30pm incident, the car was driven by Wan Azizah's personal driver when it was involved in an accident with the suspect's vehicle.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Supt Noor Azmi Yusoff said the suspect who was driving a van took to punching the windscreen of Wan Azizah's vehicle after his vehicle was hit.

He explained that Wan Azizah's driver who was driving a Toyota Alphard accidentally hit the suspect's Toyota Hiace.

"The van was driven by a 42-year-old man who was on the left side of Toyota Alphard and had just come out of a junction before the accident happened."

Following what happened, the van driver got angry and punched the Alphard's windscreen.

The suspect was detained for investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
