Man remanded for kicking fireman on duty

SANDAKAN : A man is remanded for four days for kicking a fireman who was putting out fire at a squatter area at Kampung Gelam, Jalan Leila here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar hamin said police have obtained the permission to remand the suspect starting yesterday until Wednesday.

“The man is 32-year-old and is from Kampung Gelam. Early investigation showed that the suspect became panic and acted aggressively towards the fireman when the former saw his house on fire,” he said when contacted. Yesterday, NSTP had reported that a man was arrested after he kicked and hit a fireman.

The 30-year-old fireman was busy putting out the fire before he was attacked.

Despite the commotion, he managed to continue doing his job calmly until the operation ended at 4.32am.
