Man rides mall's elevator with motorcycle, gets 14 days' in jail

KOTA KINABALU: The magistrate’s court sentenced a man to 14 days in jail and a RM25 fine for disorderly behaviour in a public place. The accused, Reliance Hallmark Jolius, 23, pleaded guilty to the offence in front of Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus after the charge was read to him. According to the case facts, the accused, on August 16, on the first floor at a mall in Bandar Sierra, here, was involved in a brawl with a security guard and was intoxicated at the time. In the 9.10pm incident, the scuffle happened when the accused was caught with the motorcycle in the elevator. He was also reported to have caused damages inside the mall. Based on the charge sheet, if found guilty, the man is punishable under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance under Sabah state laws, which provides for a fine of RM25 or up to 14 days jail upon conviction. Cindy ordered the sentence to run from today and an additional seven days’ jail if he defaults on the fine. Prosecuting officer inspector Albert Basiri prosecuted. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
