SANDAKAN: A man suffered a slash wound on his back when he was attacked by unknown individual in his oil palm plantation at Rancangan Sungai Manila, Phase 4 off Mile 12, Jalan Labuk here on Wednesday night.
In the 7.32pm incident, the 38-year-old victim initially thought someone was stealing his oil palm fruits when he saw flashlight flickers in the plantation, located about 150 metres from his house.
Suddenly, he was hit from behind as he was walking towards the direction of the light.
“The victim realised he was bleeding when he touched his back and saw blood on his hand.
“He walked back to his house and collapsed about 100 metres from the house.
“He was rushed to the Duchess of Kent Hospital to treat the 15 centimetre-long wound. Police have also arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with the case,” said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
