PORT DICKSON: A 48-year-old man who disappeared when the car he was travelling in was swept by floodwaters into a river in Rantau here, last Saturday, was found drowned.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said the body of R Sri Durai was recovered 25 kilometres from his last known location, near the Linggi Public Hall, at about 11.20am today
“The body was found by the department’s Special Tactical and Rescue (STORM) team, which conducted the search and rescue (SAR) operation in the area,” he said.
Durai was trapped in his car after it was swept by floodwaters into the raging Sungai Simen, near Kampung Ulu Rantau, here.
His friend, M Siva Ganes, 35, managed to escape unhurt in the 6.30pm incident and swam to safety.
A SAR operation was launched on Saturday, and the victim’s car was found two kilometres from the scene, five hours later.
