Manmohan Singh needs to answer judiciary corruption issue raised by Katju: BJP

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh needed to issue a clarification on the issue of corruption in the judiciary raised by former Supreme Court judge Justice Markandey Katju. "Manmohan Singh should answer the issue raised by Markandey Katju. The point is not about when it happened. He needs to answer the questions being raised by people over the issue," said Naqvi. BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said that what Katju has claimed is a serious issue. "What Katju has said is a serious issue. The judiciary was corrupted, and the biggest issue is that it was done to help the government. It also led to an increase in corruption," said Singh. Katju had claimed that a district Judge, who had several allegations of corruption against him, was not sacked and was elevated to the post of additional judge of the Madras High Court owing to the pressure put on the UPA Government and the judicial collegium by a Tamil Nadu-based party.
