'Mario Kart 8,' 'Splatoon' star in new Wii U bundle

Nintendo has come up with a new bundle that packs in two of its best loved games for the Wii U.

"Mario Kart 8" comes pre-installed on the console while "Splatoon" is delivered via download for the October 30 pack.

The retail package, announced for the UK, contains a 32GB Premium version of the Wii U; May 2014's "Mario Kart 8" would take up a mere 5GB of that hard disk allocation, while "Splatoon" weighed in at just 1.8GB upon its launch a year later.

Both the Mario racing game and atypical paint-based team shooter "Splatoon" have been recognized with boosting the Wii U's fortunes upon their release.

Nintendo declined to name a retail price for the "Mario Kart 8" and "Splatoon" console pack, but UK outlet MCV identified a £239.99 (~$367, €327) figure.

That should put it on a par with the standard one-game Wii U 32GB Deluxe Set that has an MSRP of $349 USD, should the double-stuffed bundle see North American shores, while the equivalent Wii U Premium Pack line tends to sell for around €299 in mainland Europe.
