KOTA KINABALU: An elderly couple from China escaped unhurt when three armed masked men stormed into their daughter's house.
They were relieved of their handphone and RM500 at Shangrila Height in Tanjung Aru, here this morning.
The couple, aged 63 and 57, was said to be resting at the living room of their daughter's house when the trio armed with sharp objects entered the house at around 10.30am.
The suspects threatened the couple to keep quiet as they proceeded to the first floor of the double-storey house.
As the suspects were making their way up to the bedroom, the victims yelled for help and fought back, forcing the suspects to flee the scene.
The suspects however managed to grabbed the woman's handphone and RM500 cash.
Meanwhile, acting city police chief Superintendent George Abd Rakman said a police manhunt has been intensified for the suspects.
He also urged the public with valuable information of the incident to immediately contact the police hotline at 088-242 111.
It is learnt that the couple was on holiday and visiting their daughter who is working in the state capital.
