Whatchamacallit Was Eliminated From 'The Masked Singer,' and He Says His Mom Will Be Happy

From Woman's Day

Season 2 had a Thingamajig, and season 4 of The Masked Singer has a Whatchamacallit. The costume is like if the Fourth of July and Cousin Itt from The Addams Family merged to give us a hairy red, white, and blue monster. It's one of the most extra costumes thus far on the show, which is saying a lot considering the kinds of outfits the design team dreams up.

As for who is Whatchamacallit, fans finally learned during the double elimination on Nov. 18. (And the most shocking part was that judge Ken Jeong actually guessed correctly.)

After weeks of guessing, fans and judges learned that basketball player Lonzo Ball was hiding beneath the hairy costume. This was a guess some fans latched onto by week 2. And when you review the clues and Lonzo's Wikepedia page, you see that it all adds up.

The turn tables from the first week could have been a nod to Ball's music "career." The 22-year-old has released a few mixes, especially during quarantine. And speaking of music, Whatchamacallit says he grew up listening to "Money Maker" by Ludacris, the second song he performed. The song came out in 2006, meaning the person would have to be pretty young to consider it a song they grew up with.

In it's second pre-performance package, the Whatchamacallit talked about receiving a call that could have set back his career. This could have been a reference to Ball's mother, Tina, suffering a stroke in 2017.

Some other clues that pointed to the New Orleans Pelicans player:

  • The three bees and three “B” notes are odes to Big Baller Brand, Ball’s apparel and show collection.

  • The gelatin and marshmallows are nods to Ball’s brothers “Gelo” and “Melo.”

  • Panthers and gets are hints to the NFL teams Ball’s father, Lavar, once played on.

As for Ball's connection to Ninja (aka the Ice Cream from season 2), the two played each other in a Fortnite battle on Twitch two years ago.

We love to see an athlete show off their hidden talents, and Ball is no exception.
