The Masked Singer US kicked off its fourth season last night and, as is its way, unveiled its first celebrity.

In last night's episode (September 23), host Nick Cannon couldn't contain his excitement when the mystery contestant inside the Dragon costume turned out to be legendary rapper Busta Rhymes.

"My brother! What was it like being cooped up in that?" he exclaimed, as the Break Ya Neck hitmaker replied: "I felt like I was in an oxygen tank without oxygen, but it definitely brought back all of the incredible, crazy outfits."

"Busta, you know how much I love you," gushed panelist Nicole Scherzinger, who previously worked with the artist on the Pussycat Dolls' 2005 track 'Don't Cha'. "You are rap royalty. There will never be another artist like you."

Right before the grand unveiling, host Nick Cannon encouraged professional guessers Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke and Scherzinger to reveal who they thought was behind the Dragon mask, judging by their performance of LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out'.

Jeong figured it was Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, while McCarthy claimed it was DMX due to their "raspy, gravelly voice" and "all of the dog references" in his clues. Thicke and Scherzinger, however, got it right – adamant that it would turn out to be Busta.

"I'ma double down on Busta," she told the presenter, confidently. "In the clue package, there was a Statue of Liberty – Busta is from New York. It also said something about 'calm down' and he has that song 'Calm Down' with Eminem. I'm hoping it's Busta."

"He has three albums with the word 'dragon' in them. I'm almost positive," Thicke added.

As the weeks go on, will they be able to figure out who's dressed up as the Giraffe, the Popcorn, the Sun, the Snow Owls and more?

The Masked Singer US continues next Wednesday (September 30) at 8pm on Fox. The show's UK equivalent airs ITV.
